Topic

Data is a critical asset of every organization.  Once that Data is turned into Information it becomes a critical asset for, and shared by, every employee in the organization.  Creating and managing this valuable Information asset requires a mix of policies and procedures, technology and people.  Oversight and Guidance of this ongoing effort is the purpose of Data Governance.
Though Data Governance programs vary depending upon the particulars of an organization there are a few guiding principles and methodologies which are present in some form in all successful efforts.  Our discussion of Data Governance at the COPAS Colorado luncheon will explore these guiding principles and methodologies with the goal of providing insight into: what attendees should expect when Data Governance is implemented in their company and why Data Governance is important and valuable not just to the company but to them individually.
Through a combination of presentation content and Information analysis demonstration we’ll cover the following topics:
·         Data Governance Overview – the value of Data Governance
·         Guiding Principles and Methodologies – the key components of Data Governance
·         Data Governance on my desktop – a demonstration of how Data Governance impacts information usage and understanding
