The purpose of the Washington D.C. Chapter of the Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI) is to enable local BI/DW professionals to:

  • Meet regularly with each other on a regional basis
  • Share best practices in a small group setting
  • Establish a strong network of peers
  • Gain technical advice and career direction

Everyone is welcome. We encourage you to become a member but you do not need to be a TDWI Member to attend.

Abstract

The DMOK was created to develop and build concensus and foster adoption for a generally accepted view of data management. This presentation will prove an overview of the DMBOK and a discussion of how it can help provide a common data-centric approach to projects.

Abstract

Data quality can mean the difference between success and failure. Quality, although a key component in Data Governance and Master Data Management, is often included as a token effort or as an afterthought. This presentation will focus on an “inside-out”, holistic approach with emphasis on best practices and lessons learned.

Loretta Mahon Smith

Loretta is a frequent speaker at data management conferences, the President of the Data Management Association - National Capitol Region, a board member and Vice President for Communications at DAMA International, and an ICCP Certification Council Member. She is a 25 year career data architect in the financial services industry

Edith Purdie
Edith is a consultant supporting the Federal Government, international organizations, and the commercial sector in every phase of the system development life cycle. As a strategic business analyst, she specializes in solutions for high profile programs. She has managed and consulted on projects as diverse as implementing a metadata repository and business intelligence for the United States Naval Academy (USNA), disaster recovery coordinator for the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), knowledge management analyst for a Fortune 500 company, and volume manager for major Federal telecommunications procurements.
