Presentation: "Enabling Business Vision through an Enterprise Information Management Program"
by Jaylene McCandlish, Executive Director, Information Governance & Stewardship, Health Care Services Corporation

Abstract

As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, the ability to fully utilize the vast data available throughout Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC) became increasingly important to the organization. HCSC needed accessible and better quality information to make more informed and effective business decisions while continuing to provide optimum service to their members and customers. Initiation of an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) program was seen as a means to improve management of the organization's information assets. EIM was seen as an inter-dependent framework of multiple disciplines for managing information across the enterprise. The EIM components initially focused on by HCSC (Information Governance & Stewardship, Information Architecture, Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence, and Metadata Management) were selected based on business needs and impact, a focus on EIM foundational components, and their maturity level with these disciplines within the organization. This presentation provides an overview of the EIM approach HCSC has implemented to date to achieve real information knowledge and true business impact.

Presentation: "Selling Business Intelligence Internally"
by Chris Gentry, Principal, Gentry Consulting

Abstract

Companies often recognize the need for Business Intelligence within their organizations, but may have a difficult time justifying such projects. The proper positioning and "selling" of BI internally can be as difficult as the implementation effort itself. This presentation will promote proven techniques for organizations to justify, acquire funding, and gain approval of BI projects within the framework of the company.
