Business Intelligence Strategy

Defining a business intelligence strategy and business requirements can seem like a daunting task as there are many areas of the business that could benefit from improved reporting. Where does an analyst begin, plan the phases and define the business requirements for each phase? This presentation will identify how to get a business intelligence implementation started, revitalized or redirected to ensure business outcomes are the primary driver of the project. Learn simple methods to plan a strategy, define phases and collect business requirements. Understand how to prioritize the phases to deliver the most business value earlier in the project.

Presentation: "Developing a Data Integration and ETL Framework and Architecture"
by Rob Walter, CBIP

Developing a Data Integration and ETL Framework and Architecture

Data Integration and Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) components of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse programs and projects account for a large portion of the effort invested and are usually critical to their success. Many Data Integration and ETL Tools are available and being used by organization to assist in design and development however without a defined ETL framework and architecture consistency in delivery, data quality, performance, maintenance and support can suffer. The framework and architecture provide a repeatable delivery process, data quality monitoring, development standards, audit balance and control mechanisms, enhanced maintenance and support.

The Data Integration and ETL and framework and architecture consist of:

a) Primary acquisition and integration.

b) Staging and Cleansing

c) Master Data and Conformed Dimensions

d) Audit, Balance and Control

e) Secondary Acquisition and Transformation.

f) Publishing to presentation layer.

g) Standards and common processes.

6 :20 – 6 :30 p.m.
